Samskrita Bharati (www.samskrita-bharati.org) started as an experiment in 1981 in Bangalore, India to bring Samskritam back into daily life. It has now gathered the momentum of a revolution. Through its natural and effective listen-speak-read-write technique, millions of people around the globe are now able to converse fluently in simple Samskritam! Speak Samskritam Camps and Classes are attracting people from all walks of life.

In the U.S. Samskrita Bharati's activities began around 1995 mainly in California, and has been gradually spreading to other regions too. Over the last 2 years a number of 'Spoken Sanskrit' classes have been conducted in the greater Boston area. There are many people in Boston area who can now understand and converse in simple Sanskrit.

The man who started this movement, Shri. Krishna Shastry, has been working tirelessly towards this cause and had devoted his entire life for it. He is flying in from India to conduct this camp along with other volunteer instructors. A unique feature of such camps is that all activities (from morning to night) would happen only in Sanskrit giving hope to Samskrita Bharati's mission to bring Samskritam back in to the main stream.
