New England Tamil Sangam (NETS) celebrated its Children’s Day Vizhaa 2012 on Nov 3rd at Framingham Keefe Technical School.  The event hosted several competitions including the  â€œSuper Dancer – Competition” ,  Fancy Dress Parade, "Thirukkural Competition" and “Super Singer - Competition” . “Super Dance – Competition” has became the spotlight of Children’s Day 2012 Program.

Program started with the kids singing “Tamil Thai Vazhthu” from Kalaimagal Tamil School. Their song rendering attitude shows their passion in learning their mother tongue. Following the Vazhthu came the “Fancy Dance Parade”.  Kids up to 5 years participated in the  parade. This time in addition to the regular fancy dress-up, kids were portraying some of the Indian National leaders (Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi and Jayalalitha). This brought up extra enthusiasm among the audience. Some kids were portraying the characters from our priceless ithihasam’s and puraanam’s (Eg. Pragalatha) .

Kids grouped by age participated in the “Super Singer” competition.– Final Round.  Judges Thirumathi.Aparna Balaji, Dr.Meena Sundaram and Thiru L.K.Krishnan  gave their very valuable comments upon completion of each and every song. This helped in their selection criteria as well as gearing kids with all positive comments.  Winner in each group and runner-up were announced. The entire program was Thiru.Jawed - Living Engineering along with Thiru. Raj Velmurugan and Thiru.Kamalanathan Gnanadesikan provide the sound engineering for the event. This program was sponsored by Pongal restaurant in Billerica. They provided the snacks and delicious food for the event.

NETS President Thiru. Ramesh Venkataramani re-introduced all the committee members and introduced the new member who joined the team. Ramesh is known for emphasizing committee member’s individuality in his own sense of humor. He along with Thirumathi.Vidya Kalyanaraman shed more light on how to improve the quality of programs being conducted at NETS.

Thirukkural Competition grabbed everyone’s attention as usual. Due to the increase in number of kids participating every year, 3 kids from a group at a time were given the 2 line challenge and all kids did enormously well. Three Winners (I, II & III) were announced respectively in each group. Judges Thirumathi. Uma Nellaiyappan, Thiru. Illango Chinnasamy and Thirumathi. Vidya Nagarajan gave away the medals and certificates for the winners and participants. This program has been sponsored by Aloha Mind and Math.

NETS proudly presented “Super Dancer- Competition” between 3 groups of varying ages (6-16). All kids are talented and had high dedication in what they are doing. It was hard for the judges to pick a winner group. Judges Thirumathi. Suja Meyyappan, Thirumathi. Anu Surendran and Thirumathi. Sheethal Bhuvanendra did an awesome job in explaining the positive and negative comments to the kids according to their age group. Their motivational speech encouraged all dancers on stage, as well as future dancers in the auditorium.

Everything ends with the sweetie note, being said that - NETS Treasurer Thiru.Chennakesavan delivered the vote of thanks in a melancholy way; he cheered the crowd by singing the movie song. Program has been emceed by Thirumathi. Suba Suresh and Thirumathi. Bamiela Venkat. Thanks for the 250+ active viewers for the program and hope we can bring in more such well-organized quality programs in the near future.
