Fifth Annual Yoga For Peace

Press Release
10/10/2012

Join New England's largest donation-based Yoga and Peace event on October 13th in Nashua, NH. This is an annual event organized by YogaCaps, Inc. Co-founders Jay and Terry Gupta, are proud to offer this day-long family-friendly event where you will have loads of fun and make lots of friends, all the while learning how to remain active and healthy with simple doable Yoga techniques.

Incorporated in 2006, YogaCaps, Inc. is an all-volunteer 501(c)3 non-profit organization that builds community and wellness by making yoga more available and affordable. Currently YogaCaps is offering four free classes every week for cancer survivors in four hospitals in New Hampshire. All the proceeds from the Yoga and Peace event will go to YogaCaps for sustenance of the current offerings, expansion of these services in more hospitals, as well as Peace & Social Justice studies scholarships.

A number of beginners, intermediate and advanced sessions by more than 50 teachers and kirtan artists are being lined up. One can comfortably choose the best fit for themselves from amongst a comprehensive variety of yoga and meditation practices being offered. One will have the opportunity to immerse in any of the four major types of Yoga – Raj Yoga, Bhakti Yoga, Karma Yoga and Gyaan Yoga. There will be special sessions for children, teens and seniors. Some fun activities planned are Masal Bhangra workout, laughter yoga and Indian classical dance. A special feature this year will be addition of many deep relaxation sessions, including RxRelax that has helped hundreds of people suffering from insomnia, and a Mahan Gong bath.

Another major attraction at the event is the Raffle Calendar. Starting on October 11th, a winner will be picked up every day until November 11th. There is a different prize to be won every day.

At $5 for just one entry, one is eligible for well over $1800 worth of gift certificates and wonderful prizes. There are also several FREE wellness and healing services and contests that will be offered in the wellness lounge.

This is what organizer Terry Gupta had to say last year: “We believe that yoga is a tool for social justice, and should be for everybody, not just those who can afford it. This event is for people who are curious about yoga. Join in the festivities, as together we create the world we want to live in!” “All our volunteers offer their services to create the world we all want to be part of... helping build a peaceful community harnessing the powers of Yoga, Service and Love”, pitches in Jay Gupta.

Leading the many knowledgeable presenters, Pratibha Shah will present an introduction to Ayurveda, Sanjay Saxena will give a talk on happiness, and Sudhir Parikh will share pranayama.

The closing ceremony will feature a live Bharatanatyam performance and mudra teaching by India New England Woman of the Year award winner and Bharatanatyam teacher Ranjani Saigal.   The event will end with a healing ceremony where healing energies will be invoked with the chanting of Mahamrityunjaya Mantra led by leading Carnatic vocalist Geetha Murali. All are invited to add a name in the wish basket towards whom they would like the healing to be directed.

Attendance is expected to exceed 800 people this year. Sessions are filling up quickly. Even though the event is donation based, registration is required. To register, log on to www.yogacaps.org and follow the Peace Dove for more information and registration.
