Now Is The Time To Invent Your Future! – TiECON East 2012

Press Release
05/09/2012

TiECON East 2012 is TiE-Boston's 14th annual flagship entrepreneurship conference that brings together over 500 key thought leaders, investors, and entrepreneurs across a wide cross-section of industries. This year, the theme of the conference is "Invent Your Future" and will be held at the Westin, Waltham on May 31 – June 1, 2012.

At TiECON East 2012, we hope to inspire the next generation of entrepreneurs and inventors as America looks to solve its future challenges through invention which combines innovation and inventiveness.

Keynote addresses by Carl Dietrich of Terrafugia, Diane Greene of VMware, Dr. Ron Breaker of Yale University, Dr. George Arnold of NIST, and Massachusetts Governor, Deval Patrick will surely ignite a spark in you.

A walk down Kendall Square in Cambridge highlights the fact that the face of entrepreneurship is getting younger and younger. It’s not just Facebook, Microsoft or Dell that were started in a dorm room but that is quite a trend! Come hear a panel of young entrepreneurs and find out what drives these brilliant minds on how they form companies, get funded and find exits, at the Thursday Evening Keynote Panel on Young Entrepreneurs.

"We have put together an event focused on entrepreneurs to help them from the imagination phase through to selling their enterprise. If we can help entrepreneurs (closet ones too) to invent their future, we will be able to address the major challenges our society faces.”

I invite anyone who has a dream of taking their ideas or ventures to the next level to come and learn, and in the process invent their future," says, Ramesh Kumar, Conference chair.

Two action packed days will offer a plethora of programs for both early stage and growth stage entrepreneurs. BootCamp workshops will provide hands on training on the lean startup methodology. PowerLunch, a value added networking opportunity session offering in-depth discussions with experienced entrepreneurs and charter members is back by popular demand.

New to TiECON East this year is the TiE Challenge Pitchfest, a pitch competition part of  TiE Challenge, which offers first-time entrepreneurs the guidance and resources to turn a great idea into a real company.

The conference will wrap up with tantalizing Indian cuisine, drinks and glamorous entertainment. The highlight of the evening is the banquet speaker, Sanjay Mehrotra from SanDisk. A Fireside Chat with him will offer insight into how he turned his company and products into a household name. The evening celebration will also feature inspiring presentations of TiE Stars by charter members from TiE East on what inspired them to create great companies and value for the community. After hearing last year’s stars, this one is surely not to be missed!

With nine Panels across three tracks, TiECON East 2012 is the only entrepreneurial conference that offers the convergence of Technology, Life Sciences, Clean Tech, and Education under one roof. Topics include Big Data, Crowdsourcing, Mobile, Raising Capital, Selling, Exits, Infectious Diseases, Disruptions in Education and Clean Tech. Panelists include entrepreneurs and industry experts like Rich Miner from Google, Gail Goodman from Constant Contact, Dr. Celia Schiffer from UMass Medical School, Ben Nelson from Minerva Project, and many more.
