Janani Baskaran Receives Gold President's Volunteer Service Award

In the calendar year 2011, Janani Baskaran did over 100 hours of community service. She volunteered at the local town library, shelving books, making crafts, and taking inventory. In addition, she volunteered at the Bedford VA hospital. She apprenticed as a recreation therapist and spent time with the many veterans housed there. Being under 15 years old and completing over 100 hours of community service, she qualified for the Gold President's Volunteer Service Award. Janani is a freshman at Acton Boxborough Regional High School. Over the
summer, she wanted to do something purposeful and give back to my
community which is why she decided to volunteer. "By volunteering, I was able to give back to the community and say
“thanks” to all those who have done so much for us," says Baskaran. Other than volunteering, she likes to sing, read books, play tennis, watch movies, and spend time
with friends.
