Somen Saha and Lopa Jamb presented a thrilling fundraising concert to support the Lukemia Society on Saturday, March 17 at the Keefe Technical school auditorium in Framingham, MA. The event featured a wonderful variety of Bollywood numbers ranging from the romantic songs that touch the heart to rocking numbers that had the audience leave their seats and start dancing.

Somen opened with Musafor Hoon Yaro from the movie Parichay.  The song was an instant hit and set the tone for the rest of the show.  His powerful emotion filled vocals combined with excellent intonation made the evening thoroughly enjoyable.  Phir Wohi Rat from Ghar came next. 

The intensely emotional O.P. Nayyar number, Chain se humko kabhi came after that. This number introduced Lopa Jamb to the audience. Her beautiful presence combined with a sweet voice made a great impression. Somen went on to present Jia dharak dharak, Kal Ho Na Ho, Yeh jo muhabaat hai  and Kahin To.  Somen and Lopa then presented the hit number from Jawani Diwani – Jane Jaan Doondtha phir raha.  

A few other melodic numbers were presented before the duo decided to turn Keefe Tech into a disco (they even played with the auditorium light to create the right ambiance) with fast paced dance numbers including Jai Jai Shiva Shankar, Khaike Pan Banares Wala, Tai Tai Phish and Dekha na hai re. The program was brought to conclusion with the two great hits, Dinka Chinka and Om Shanti Om. 

Somen and Lopa were not just singers but complete entertainers who knew how to reach out to the audience. Somen was constantly interacting personally with the audience.  They also danced which made the performance more spectacular. The audio system was powerful and well managed with no interruptions or glitches. 

It was a great pleasure to attend such a professional and unique show. The dinner was excellent as well.  The fact that the show was a fundraiser to support a great cause, the Leukemia society was the true icing on the cake.
