NetSAP Happy Hour

Bringing South Asians with diverse interests at one place made the NetSAP happy hour unique. The energetic group of professionals and students from financial services, legal, medical/healthcare, information technology, engineering, consulting, government, marketing and biotechnology areas provided ample opportunity to network, share thoughts and ideas and have fun.

Despite inclement weather the turnout for the NetSAP Happy Hour was impressive. About hundred young professionals in the age group of 20 to 35 were present. Among the attendees was Nishith Acharya, the founder of NetSAP. For many, this was the first time that they were attending a NetSAP event. The social committee of NetSAP was present at the entrance of the bar and made everyone feel welcome. They put extra efforts to make social networking possible.

The event held at ‘The Morden Lounge’ located in downtown Boston was a good choice for such a meeting since it was easily accessible by T and had plenty of parking available. The cocktails were good though hors d'oeuvres were missed. The lighting, the music and the seating arrangements accommodated one-on-one conversations and group discussions.

The bar filled up pretty quickly after the doors opened for the party. Even people who had come for the first time could find some familiar faces or old friends. Small groups of four to eight people were a common sight at the bar. Anyone could easily pop into a group and get involved in a discussion that ranged from work related professional gossips to debate on the current war. “NetSAP Boston seeks to create and facilitate the growth of a socially responsible network of highly talented South Asian-American professionals and entrepreneurs”, said Yash Chitre, President of NetSAP boston. The evening provided the right framework for enabling such a network.

NetSAP fosters professional development and community service by building partnerships with business organizations like Tie-Boston and working with community groups that include ASHA and SAMTA. NetSAP also encourages recreational and cultural activities Founded in 1995, the Network of South Asian Professionals of Boston(NetSAP) is a professional, not-for-profit organization dedicated to serving the professional, political, cultural and civic needs of the South Asian community in the Greater Boston area.
