Dance And Music Arangetrams In 2011

Sudarshan Thirumalai - Vocal Arangetram
Sudarshan’s achievement and his undoubted future as an accomplished Carnatic musician are a testament to what great things are possible under Guru Tara’s tutelage and with hard work and dedication - and I hope, an inspiration for the many children and parents who were present to share in this experience.

Twin Treats Of Tradition – Vocal And Mridangam Arangetram
Twin siblings Divya and Varun Chandramouli presented a joint arangetram (debut performance) with a very fulfilling performance. Divya presented a vocal recital for over three hours accompanied by Varun on the mridangam, Kum. Rasika Murali on the violin and Dr. Ravi Balasubramaniam on the ghatam.

Arangetram: Divya Padmanabhan
Divya Padmanabhan, a recent high school graduate from Lexington, is a student of Smt. Jothi Raghavan. She has been learning Bharathanatyam from Jothi for 8 years in Vazhuvoor style and prior to that was a student of Smt. Nina Gulati. The arangetram was held at The Performing Arts Center at Littleton, MA on July 9, 2011.

Arangetram - Monica Lakshmi Swaminathan
Monica enthralled the audience by her scintillating performance. Each of the items performed, clearly reflected the several years of hard work and training invested by this young dancer under the meticulous guidance of her guru Ranjani Saigal.

My Arangetram Experience: Bhavana Chalupadi
When I heard my cue for my Pushpanjali, I pumped myself for my once in a lifetime experience, my Arangetram. Though I was hyperventilating and fidgeting, I allowed my legs to propel me on stage gracefully. At first it felt as though it was another dance practice with the musicians at my Guru,Smt. Jothi Raghavan’s house.

Arangetram: Chitra Amba Nidadavolu
Chitra Nidadavolu, daughter of Achyuta and Vani Nidadavolu had her arangetram on August 21, 2011 at Quick Center for the Arts, Fairfield University, CT. She has been learning Bharatanatyam under the tutelage of her mother and Guru Smt. Vani Nidadavolu.

Double Delight – Bharatanatyam Arangetram Of Swathi And Bhavna Sivasubramanian
The debutant sisters Swati and Bhavna marked their Bharatanatyam Arangetram with a memorable performance at the Ashland High School auditorium on August 19, 2011.

Arangetram: Ananya Mahalingam-Dhingra
I had the pleasure of attending the Bharatanatyam arangetram of Ananya Mahalingam-Dhingra, disciple of Gurus Meena Subramanyam and Roja Kannan, at the Regis College Fine Arts Center in Weston, MA on Sept. 17th. It was elegant and aesthetic in all aspects of its presentation from the foyer décor, costuming, music, and the traditionally delineated dance items.

Arangetram: Naveena Shanmugam
Naveena Shanmugam, a disciple of the well-respected and immensely talented Smt. Sridevi Thirumalai transcended the stage and danced into the realm of the sublime in a 3-hour performance in Ashland High school in front of a large audience of family, friends and well-wishers.
