As U2’s Bono has aptly put it, "Music can change the world because it can change people." These musicians and organizers have spent months organizing and putting together this exciting show which brings together a number of like-minded singers from different backgrounds and regions who have enthusiastically joined hands to entertain all of you! This talented group includes Priya Anandaraj, Uma Sankar, Meena Sundaram, Bharath Sundaraman, Mahesh Subramanian, Sankar Gangaikondan and Krish Velmurugan. This event is being done to benefit a very deserving organization, Isha Vidhya (www.ishavidhya.org) that focuses on educating underprivileged children in rural India.

Isha Vidhya, a not for profit education initiative, works for the economic and social empowerment of rural children in the villages across southern state of Tamil Nadu, India. Through this effort, the foundation is committed to raising the level of education and literacy in rural India and to helping disadvantaged children realize their full potential.

Bharath Sundararaman, an energetic singer, rapper and chief of Child Rights and You America- Boston Chapter says, “I have been supporting the cause of child rights and education for the past decade. What better way to continue this effort than to turn music notes into class notes by supporting the noble cause of Isha Vidhya?”

Mahesh Subramanian, an avid music enthusiast is very excited about performing in this event. “I believe in entertaining the audience with the music I love; at the same time supporting worthy causes. These concerts spread awareness about these organizations to the generous audience in the New England area who will hopefully continue their support in the long term”.

Priya Anandaraj who is a volunteer with Isha foundation USA, an organizer of this event, a trained classical singer and music teacher of carnatic music remarks “I have seen in person the efforts of Isha Vidhya and their support for education of poor and underprivileged children in Tamil Nadu. I decided to expand my personal involvement and commitment to other musicians in the area in this effort. I request all music lovers to attend and support this unique fundraiser”

Uma Sankar, one of the organizers and a classical music teacher with extensive performance experience enthusiastically says “For this music event, we have put together songs composed by Illayaraja, AR Rehman and many of the new upcoming music directors. We will be performing old and new melodies and fast peppy numbers. I am absolutely sure the audience is going to have a great time... because we are going to have a great time!”

Krish Velmurugan, who has a long-standing love of Tamil film music and is also performing in this event concurs;” Our show is going to please audience members of all age-groups, we have something for everyone  in terms of  the song selection we have come up with. I am confident this team is going to rock! ”

Sankar Gangaikondan, a versatile performer adds “Isha Isai mazhai is going to be a wonderful musical evening that will be also helping Isha's cause for educating under-privileged children in India. I feel really fortunate to be a part of this show.”

“The concept of focusing on children’s education and giving back to my home country is something that stimulates and empowers me. In addition, my wife is a singer and that has got me involved as well”, says Raj Velmurgan, who in addition to volunteering for ISHA is organizing publicity and helping with sound along with the well-known sound engineer in New England, Mr. Jawed Wahid.

The Isha foundation through its Isha Vidhya schools offers a nurturing approach to education in villages. Isha Vidhya has been an active supporter of promoting education among female children in the villages and all our schools have seen an increased enrollment of girl children.

Isha Vidhya currently runs 7 schools and this has had a great impact in the lives of villages in the surrounding locality. The schools presently cater to more than 3488 students from nearby villages, with approximately 60% (2050) of students on free education through donations from our scholarship program.

This has created the possibility for the rural children to pursue higher education or find gainful employment and thus build a strong foundation for the future of these children and alleviate themselves out of poverty. Please support this great cause by attending the show, tickets are available at https://sites.google.com/site/bostonisaimazhai/.

For further information about Isha Vidhya and their community services, please check out www.ishavidhya.org and sponsoring one or more children in their education. Thank you all in advance for your support!
