Association of Ayurvedic Professionals of North America (AAPNA) recently organized its 3^rd International Ayurveda Conference in Hilton Boston / Woburn, MA, USA from August 12-15, 2011.  The conference, with the theme of “Ayurveda for Women’s Health” drew about 170 participants from around the world -- USA, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, Switzerland, Ukraine, Croatia, Brazil, India, UAE.  There were participants from 28 different U.S. states.  The conference was inaugurated by Dr. Sunita Kanumury, MD, President of American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI).  More than 15 internationally renowned Ayurvedic physicians and integrative medicine physicians presented academic, clinical and research papers, and the conference culminated with AAPNA’s annual awards ceremony.  Please visit www.aapna.org for details on the conference and information on upcoming conferences and events.

Association of Ayurvedic Professionals of North America (AAPNA), Inc., founded by Dr. Shekhar Annambhotla, started as a discussion amongst a group of ayurvedic professionals in 2002 and officially incorporated in 2007 as a non-profit 501(c)(6) corporation in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, USA. The executive committe today comprises of Dr. Pratibha Shah, Vice-President, Dr. Ashlesha Raut, Secretary and Dr. Dhanada Kulkarni, Membership Director. The organization has grown to unite Ayurvedic and integrative medicine health professionals, students, academic institutes and corporations throughout North America and internationally.

Some of our accomplishments to date are:

• Bestowing 32 awards annually in Ayurveda and Vedic sciences
• Offering free academic conference calls twice a month (62 to date)
• Forming a network of alliances with national and international organizations
• Declaring the first Monday of October each year as 'Ayurveda Day' (this is the eve of the birth of Dhanwantari, the creator of Ayurveda)
• Annual international conferences on Ayurveda
• Offering professional liability insurance for Ayurvedic practitioners
• Recognizing highly talented and accomplished mentors in Ayurveda and Vedic sciences
• More than 35 online articles and research papers posted on our AAPNA website to date

We are committed to sharing Ayurvedic knowledge and wisdom and exchanging ideas with integrative health professionals and all who are interested in Ayurveda.

Our Vision is to bring the healing science of Ayurveda and its modalities to the forefront of integrative medicine in the West.

Our Mission is by sharing our wisdom, extensive education and experience, diverse backgrounds, collective knowledge of ayurveda and integrative medicine, AAPNA strives to:

• Build bridges of knowledge across all health professions in order to incorporate the healing approaches and modalities of Ayurveda into mainstream health care.
• Bring together all Ayurvedic and integrative health professionals to offer each other support, academic discussions, professional development and friendship.
• Strengthen the awareness of Ayurveda as a healing science, thereby contributing to the effort of bringing the wisdom and knowledge of Ayurveda to everyone.
