Exclusively.in Bridal Show Offers Unique Designs

07/20/2011

The Indian fashion boutique website, Exclusively.in, celebrated its one-year anniversary on Saturday, June 25 with “The Bridal Show at the Pierre” to introduce its new bridal website. The event featured pieces by well-known Indian designers such as Ritu Kumar, Payal Singhal, and Satya Paul and was aimed at introducing women to the Exclusively.in brand.

Brides and their wedding parties walked into a room at the Pierre in Manhattan, in which saris, salwar suits, lehengas, and other Indian formalwear was displayed in sections arranged by their designer.  There were also booths for jewelry designers such as Amrita Singh, who had her costume jewelry on display, enticing people to visit her own store and booths for designers of other wedding-related items such as the wedding invitations of Ceci New York.

The website was started by four Indian entrepreneurs, who recognized the growing need for the availability of everything wedding-related for Indians abroad. Speaking about the lack of options, Vandana Duggal, the Marketing and Partnerships Manager, said that currently about 50% of families throwing an Indian wedding go to India to do most of their shopping. Exclusively.in aims to capture some of that market by making the best designs easily available online.

Subscribers to the website know they receive a daily email with the “sales” that are currently going on. The pieces on display change weekly or monthly. Founders of the company attribute their success over the past year to their careful sourcing of the clothing, with employees going directly to designers, or even to the villages where the materials are manufactured. Indeed, the description of each piece on the website is meticulous. And if the buyer doesn’t end up liking the item, they also offer free shipping.

About 300 people attended the event, almost all of whom were religious subscribers to the website. They were thrilled to try out the clothes they only normally saw online, and many were able to get themselves fitted for an item or even take them home. The only complaint they had was that there weren’t enough designs to go around because the best were being snapped up so quickly.

To visit the website, go to Exclusively.in or Exclusively.in/weddings for their wedding website.
