Dwarkamai celebrated ‘Spiritual Gold’ program on May 29th at the Shirdi Sai Temple in Billerica.  This was a very unique initiative undertaken by Dwarkamai to conduct an all day program with many spiritual events focused on the senior citizens of the community to honor them and have them participate in the events. Going forward Dwarkamai would be conducting this annually to coincide with the recently announced ‘Senior Citizens Day’ in MA on August 21st.  The overall intent was to involve our senior citizens in various activities and light up their faces so they enjoy the day and bless the youngsters.

The event started @ 8.30 A.M. with Kakad Arathi, Abhisek and  Shri Sai Alankar. Shri Sai was looking very beautiful and ready to receive his devotees. Then followed a special group SatyaNarayana Pooja for the seniors.  All participants were spiritually enlightened by various mantrochhar and proceedings. The volunteers then served the lunch to seniors with love. Next followed an amazing array of kid’s performances as a cultural presentation (songs and dances) to the seniors.  Quite a few of the local choreographers had dedicated time and energy to prepare the kids for the program for the past month or so.

During this segment, seniors carried Shri Sai Paduka on their head and danced with others present to the beats of melodious bhajans and it was a sight to behold. Every face and eye glimmered with peaceful and joyous expressions of pure divinity.  The temple was vibrant and energetic with the devotional songs and sounds of the musical instruments.  And then came out the hidden talents of our community as seniors themselves started performing. Shri Ganesan Jambhunathan brought tears of happiness & joy by his songs. Srimathi Vitobhai Sadanandham's piano recitals for 30 minutes captivated everyone. The devotees, irrespective of their age brought with them positive energy and enthusiasm. It was very inspiring to see such hidden talent amongst our senior citizens. Sons, daughters, grandchildren and spouses of the elders cheered them all the way.

After the tea break seniors sat down to singing bhajans and no one wanted it to be over at 7 PM when the time for Dhoop arathi came. Finally the ‘Spiritual Gold’ program ended with dinner followed by Sheja Arathi.  It was a wonderful event and all participants went back contended and filled with joy.

Dwarkamai feels happy to have started a new tradition and looks forward to keeping the smile on, on the face of our senior citizens whose blessings are needed by one and all in various quests of everyday life
