Congratulations To Spotlight On Excellence Award Winners - Magnificient Mentors

Chand Pasha, Deepa Mangalat, Dr. Mahesh Mehta, Mohammed Khan, Dr. Nasir Khan, Subbarao Kompella and Tara Bangalore, have been selected to receive the Lokvani Spotlight on Excellence Award for the "Magnificient Mentor" category. The awards will be given on September 9, 201l at the Lokvani Gala.
 
Chand Pasha is the founder of the Big Help foundation that has done yeomen service in bringing education to the deserving poor.  He has served as a powerful inspiring force to so many to do volunteer work. He teaches through his work.

Deepa Mangalat, a finalist for the women of the year spends great deal of time and energy to mentor youth and also serve the poor by cooking in soup kitchens. Her work inspires so many to do great things.

Dr. Mahesh Mehta is a polymer scientist of international repute, is a pioneer who envisioned the challenges and opportunities for the Hindu Society in USA as far back as 1969. He founded Vishwa Hindu Parishad of America to serve the needs of the then fledgling Hindu community through Bal Vihars, Camps, Conferences and sought to unite all the Hindu organization to work towards the common aim of sustaining Hindu Dharma in Americas.  He is actively engaged in leading today’s youth in Bharat to transform villages to centers of excellence through Innovative Quality Group, an NGO that he founded a few years back.

Mohammed Khan, a native of Bangladesh, has pioneered public transportation expansion by leveraging corporate strategies in Government. His efforts over the past 20 years has brought low cost public transportation to aide so many lower income folks, disabled and developmentally disabled population. Under his mentorship a very innovative transportation ERP system has been created that has been  marketed all over the world.

Dr. Nasir Khan, CEO of Bournewood Hospital for 25 years, Trustee of MMS, current President of Mass Association of Behavioral
Health Systems has served as President of the Indian Medical Association of IMANE and has been recognized for the mentorship he provides to young up and coming Indian Doctors in the Boston area.

Subbarao Kompella, founder of Srimeru.org has been a spiritual mentor for thousands in the Boston area.  He made Hindu rituals accessible by teaching all to perform even complicated Yaganas while providing the meaning of the rituals.  He taught the very difficult Lalita Saharanamam to many who consider him their spiritual mentor. He gave up a lucrative career in the Boston area to assume the leadership of the Devi Puram Peetham in India.

Tara Bangalore, a brilliant classical musician,  is a Classical music teacher who has mentored many of her students to attain professional success as a  Carnatic musician, no mean task in a land far away from India.

Lokvani is honored to recognize these great men and women and would like award them with the Lokvani Spotlight on Excellence Award for being a Magnificent Mentor.
