Nach Night: Dancing The Night Away For A Good Cause

On March 12th, more than a two hundred people gathered at Nashua High School North for a night of music, good food, and revelry. Gold and silver streamers hung tantalizingly from the ceiling, and balloons scattered across the floor, reminiscent of an old Bollywood film, with its unending charm and glamour. Nach Night, IANH Youth Group’s annual dance fundraising event has been a big hit the past two years, and this year was no different.

People from all walks of cultures, donning kurtas and chudidars, joined hands and swayed their hips to a unique blend of eastern and western music. Everyone hit the dance floor by 7 p.m, and soon, the dance was in full swing, only stopping for breaks to eat the delicious food provided.

People also enjoyed the food immensely, catered generously by Food and Fashion of India as well as Café India. Boston Sound and Light Co., provided the rhythm and beats to dance to, and there was even a mini- Bhangra workshop, hosted by Amulya Deepak of the Vividha School of Dance. She taught those present some basic dance steps, closing the gap between cultures even further. Soon, everyone on the dance floor was moving to the sounds of Bollywood, the sound of laughter ever present.

The IANH Youth Group has worked very hard for this event to be a success, under the supportive guidance of Deepa Mangalat, the youth group coordinator. Their hard work has certainly paid off, if the enthusiastic responses by people who had come, were anything to go by.  “I had an amazing time! I enjoyed the music, and I’m so happy that I could help out for a good cause. I can’t wait to come back again next year! It was wonderful,” Emma Bovill, a junior from Nashua North exclaimed.

The Youth Group is grateful to all who contributed to the success of the event. Thanks to DJ Yogz who was the Grand Sponsor for this event as Boston Sound and Light Co., donated over $500 worth of services. We also had anonymous donors who gave $500 and $200 to the cause. The Gold Sponsors for this grand event was Margaritas of Nashua, who contributed over $200 of gift services. Silver Sponsors included Manas Sahu of Café India, Indira Shelat of Food and Fashion of India, Aloha Math, and Dr. & Mrs. Dhakar, each donating $100. The Donor Sponsors, donating $50 each, were Panera Bread, Citizens Bank, Rashda’s Beauty Salon, and  KUMON of Nashua. All proceeds go to Nashua and Manchester Soup Kitchens and to Cure Duchenne, a foundation dedicated to benefiting young boys suffering from Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. The group hopes to make an even bigger impact next year!!!
