'Game' slated for release early April is a thriller starring Abhishekh Bachchan, Kangana Ranaut, Jimmy Shergill shot in international and exotic locales.  The film is directed by Abhinay Deo and has music by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy.  The music is stylish fitting the theme of the film and as always, the trio present a mixed bag of western and Indian - soft rock, R & B and Indi-jazz/pop.

The title song 'It's a Game' is sung with gusto by Vishal Dadlani – he brings in the required passion and lends it the flavour and mood that the opening and title track of a film of this genre need.  However, the refrain is (suspiciously) reminiscent of the refrain from the Arabian nights song in the film Aladdin.

The Reprise of Its a Game has Sunitha Sarathy at the mic - she has a tremendous voice and her husky and sultry vocals brings to mind the title tracks from the Bond films!  The tune is the same as the title song and the whole treatment is understated and softer and while it may not make for a great listening number, it must serve a purpose in the narrative of the film.

Maine Yeh Kab Socha Tha – softly jazzy and romantic - with a little bit of classical interludes here and there - the song is reminiscent of the romantic hits that the boy bands popularised in the nineties and early 2000s!  Mix of English and Hindi lyrics and vocals by Shaan, Anusha Mani and Loy Mendonsa.

Mehki Mehki - Shreya's intro humming shows the promise that the song holds - the song is a charmer and indeed turns out to be a promising song - funky beats with a Greek/Middle Eastern flavour in the orchestration.  A sharp brass section and Kshitij's accompanying vocals complete the picture.

Kaun Hai Ajnabi - Aditi Singh Sharma and Kay Kay sing this fast paced song which takes a while for the listener to warm up to - it's not remarkable and Aditi Singh's voice shows strain in some of the higher notes.  A song that will be easily forgotten!!

The remixes of Mehki Mehki and Kaun Hai Ajnabi are just that!!

Except for Mehki Mehki and to a certain extent Kaun Hai Ajnabi, the
music of Game is just above average and hardly measures up to the
earlier offerings of Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy.  Most likely one of those
albums which will fade away from our memories quickly!!
