De Ghumake - Cricket World Cup 2011

Anoop Kumar
03/02/2011

More than one billion cricket fans have one wish and one burning desire. They want to see the Cricket World Cup in the hands of Team India. The current cricket team is one of the favorites and in fact in a position to win the tournament. The win over Bangladesh by 87 runs came in easy and boosted the confidence of the team. India's 370-4 owed much to the brilliance of Virender Sehwag (175) and Virat Kohli (100no).

The game between India and England ended in a tie a rarity in cricket. Team India bagged 338 runs with Sachin’s contribution of 120 and positioned themselves in a comfortable positioned to win the game. Skipper AJ Strauss’ knocking innings of 158 gave a great start to England and victory seemed in the neighborhood . After the fall of Strauss’ wicket the team buckled and game started to see-saw ending in a tie. May be it is a reality check for Team India. If they can’t defend a target of 338 runs they are going to have difficult times ahead. Does seem like they need to strengthen the bowling lineup.

Here are upcoming games of Team India

For those of you who missed the opening ceremony, you can watch it below. Canadian pop singer Bryan Adams performed his famous song "Summer of '69”. Shankar Ehsan and Loy sang ‘ De Ghumake’ the official song of 2011 world cup. Though the song got mixed reviews, l feel the trio came with a hummable tune. Enjoy the video with lyrics at the bottom of the page.
