TAGB Celebrates Sankranti Sambaralu

On January 29th, 2011 TAGB celebrated Sankranthi festival in a grand manner.  Having “Bommalakoluvu” on the stage brought a festive look to the stage.  Jt. Secretary Mr. Srinivas Chaganti welcomed the families. The traditional formality of blessing younger kids with seasonal fruits called “Bogipallu” was performed after the prayer.  Several kids and adults performed and presented dances in classical, folk, semi-classical and film songs. 

 

TAGB observed India’s Republic day and paid tributes the Mahatma Gandhi on his death anniversary. Mr. Sandeep Kurupati entertained the guests with his melody in all types of songs including patriotic songs. 

 

In the afternoon, TAGB organized competitions to member families in Art, Rangoli and Literary (GK).  The winners are: In Arts – Vagmita Kantheti, Bhavana Thapasvi, Laasya Thatavarty, Samita Bhavno; in Rangoli – Anita Guduguntla, Sreelatha Thatavarthy, Madhavi Seeram, Praveena Padakala; In literary – Madhavi Kamma, Sampath Guthikonda, Yogitha Pagidi;  Trustee Dr. Ammani Dasari gave away the prizes.

 

In addition to the local artists, TAGB invited external artists. Mr. Kalyan Kattamuri’s standup comedy was one of the highlights of the day. Also Mr.Ravi Gudupati and Smt Anantha Krishna entertained guests with several movie songs.  Besides this entertainment, TAGB Youth organized a campaign “GO GREEN” initiative by educating and encouraging members to be conscious of Recycle several products.

 

President Mr. Prakash Reddy lauded the talents of all TAGB members in taking part in all events that his team initiated during this year.  He profusely thanked all his committees, general members, sponsors and well wishers of the association for giving him an opportunity to lead TAGB during Silver Jubilee Year 2010. 

 

Election Committee Chairman Dr.Seshagiri Rao introduced the newly elected Executive Committee for 2011-12.  All members unanimously got elected for various positions of the organization. Mr. Koteswara Rao Kandukuri - President, Mr Srinivas Kollipara – President Elect, Mr. Ramesh Babu Tallam – Secretary, Mrs.Madhavi Donepudi – Cultural Secretary, Mr. Janardhan Sonti – Treasurer, Mr. Janakiram Gubbala – Jt.Secretary, Mr. Babu Tammisetty – Jt. Treasurer;

 

Also in the newly formed Trustee Board Mr.Paparao Gundavaram - Chairman, Dr. Govinda Rao Bhisetty – Vice Chairman, members Mr. Mallareddy Karra, Mr. Baburao Polavarapu, Mr. Purnarao Bolneni, Mr. Sreenivas Kaki, Mr. Prakash Reddy (ex-officio).

 

While addressing the audience, Mr. Mohan Nannapaneni (outgoing BOT Chairman) praised the efforts of all committees especially executive committee in organizing several programs successfully.  He congratulated all participants in presenting very high quality programs. 

 

The community thanked the outgoing Trustees Mr. Mohan Nannapaneni and Dr. Ammani Dasari for their valuable contribution as Trustees of TAGB during their tenure.

 

The newly elected TAGB president Mr.Koteswara Rao Kandukuri thanked all the members for electing him as a president for 2011.  He assured that he will stick to the path laid by his predecessors and confident that TAGB is moving along in right direction.   He expressed his intention to make TAGB resources available to the needy Telugu families in our region through a new initiative “ HELP LINE”. 

 

Cultural Secretary Mrs. Padmavathi Parakala thanked the guests, all committee members, sponsors, vendors and Youth members for their help to make this event successful.  The day’s program concluded with Indian National Anthem.
