Bob Langer To Speak On New Medical Technologies

TiE-Boston’s Legends & Leaders Program presents a true legend: Prof. Bob Langer on October 26th. Bob Langer will  speak on the new discoveries in drug delivery, medical devices & biotherapeutics.

Robert S. Langer is an engineer and the David H. Koch Institute Professor at MIT. He is a widely recognized and cited researcher in biotechnology, especially in the fields of drug delivery systems and tissue engineering. Dr. Langer's research laboratory at MIT is the largest biomedical engineering lab in the world, maintaining about $6 million in annual grants and over 100 researchers.

Langer is a prolific inventor and holds more than 600 granted or pending patents. He has also authored more than 1,000 scientific papers and has participated in the founding of multiple technology companies. Dr. Langer has received over 180 major awards including the 2006 United States National Medal of Science; the Charles Stark Draper Prize, considered the equivalent of the Nobel Prize for engineers and the 2008 Millennium Prize, the world's largest technology prize.  

Dr. Langer received his bachelor's degree from Cornell University in chemical engineering. He earned his Sc.D. in chemical engineering from MIT.
