Fund Raiser event by "We for Hope"

“We For Hope” mission is to support, assist, and strengthen underprivileged individuals through project-based fellowships and mentoring.

 

“We For Hope” As an umbrella organization support various grassroots NGOs in India:

·         Building & enhancing libraries with easy access for children.

·         Provide educational materials and financial assistance/scholarships to children in shelter homes.

·         Children sponsorship programs for orphans or the needy.

·         Preventive health care services and awareness programs for women in rural areas of India.

·         Support underprivileged youth with training of employability skills, encouraging entrepreneurial growth, and assisting in capacity building.

 

We are also committed to volunteer our time and resources to local charities in Boston area – Soup Kitchen at Rosie’s Place, several women shelters, Book, can and toy drive are some

 

We for Hope Fundraiser on 25th September at “The Rogers Center for Arts at Merrimack College”, North Andover will benefit projects at Ramakrishna Vivekananda Mission ( Suryapur), Change Initiatives, Niharika and StepUP.

 

Details on the beneficiary projects –

Training of disabled girls at RKVM, Suryapur:

 Located near Kolkata, this center prepares and empowers visually and hearing impaired girls so that they can be gainfully employed. This center also includes a center to train Special Educators who can teach disabled children. Currently the center take care of 100 hearing/speech impaired children, and 40 visually impaired children; also train 100 potential teachers for such children. “We For Hope” will partially fund some of the training programs.

The event flyer and the event tickets are have been designed and printed by the hearing and speech impaired girls at Suryapur.

Building a library for destitute children at Niharika, Ranaghat:
Niharika is run under a charitable trust CIDAW (Child In Distress And We), which was established in 2001. CIDAW is working for education and rehabilitation of children of poor women living in prostitutions in Red Light areas of Kolkata and suburbs. It is set up in a serene pollution-free countryside on the outskirts of Ranaghat Town, about 75 KM away from Kolkata. At present Niharika houses 28 boys and girls. “We For Hope” will fund building a library with ease of access for these children to enrich their learning experience.

Building a community center for women of Kantibele village with help from Change Initiative:

With the objective of providing education and enlighten the women of 3 villages from the area, a community center with digital media and other facilities will be built with an investment of Rs 1lakh. Change Initiative is working towards building & managing the center – “We For Hope” will provide partial funding and monitoring of the work.

Empowering disadvantaged youth to employment and entrepreneurship by StepUP:

StepUP has designed a program of 4 months to train approx 75 economically disadvantaged youth in South 24 Parganas of West Bengal – this training will empower the youth to avail better employment or start their own business. With a cost of approx $160 per youth for the training, StepUP will work with local employers for on-job training & placements, connect with micro-lenders and other funding agencies for seed money. “We For Hope” will fund some selected participants.

“We For Hope” will continue to work with the grass root NGOs to identify projects, monitor the funded projects and provide guidance to them. We are looking for donors and volunteers in making all of these happen. The fund raiser on 25th Sept is the first step towards that.
