Poem: The House

Bhuwan Thapaliya
09/11/2010

The House

As the nicotine stained teeth
of my grandfather,
the house looks
ragged and old from outside

but it is shielded
with kisses from inside.

A man’s boldness
and a woman’s tenderness
dwells inside the house.

A warm flickering
heart light of trust
and the lively chatter
of the love birds
sprout patience,
and beautifies
the house.

The trickling water
of understanding
trickles, tip, tip, tip - tip
from the fountain of the house.
