TiE Young Entrepreneurs (TyE):
Recruiting a new Class

TiE-Boston is recruiting for the TyE Class of 2010-2011 scheduled to begin in September 2010. TyE or TiE Young Entrepreneurs is part of TiE-Boston’s educational programs for youth established in 2005. Its mission is to provide an environment and ecosystem for young people to dream of becoming entrepreneurs and business leaders. TyE Boston is embarking on its sixth successful year of operation. As part of the TyE program, students participate in a 10K Business Plan Competition where teams present their business plan to a panel of judges from the TiE ecosystem. Three winning teams are awarded cash prize of $5K, $3K and $2K.

The TyE experience is life changing for several students, some get direction on a career path, others get help with fine tuning their college application, and some others hone in their presentation skills. In all the transformation of high school students into entrepreneurs is highly rewarding.

Over 165 students have participated in the program from over 25 local schools since its inception. In 2009-2010 school year, over 27 students from area high-schools spent Saturday mornings learning what it means to be an entrepreneur. Six teams presented their business plans at a TyE Gala ceremony on April 10, 2010. Their business plans spanned through a whole array of themes like energy demand management, online furniture remodeling, revolutionizing shopping experience and connecting entrepreneurs through web based portal.

In 2009 TyE was adopted by TiE-Global as one it's programs and offered to other TiE chapters. As a result 4 other TiE chapters implemented the TyE Program. Each held its own TyE competition and the winning team from all 4 chapters participated in the TyE Global Business Plan Competition. TyE Global $25K Business Plan Competition was held on Saturday, April 17, 2010 at MIT in Cambridge (Boston), Massachusetts. Each team was evaluated on their business plan and presentation. The winner of the TyE Global $25K 2009-2010 Business Plan Competition was Enerlyze from the Boston chapter. We at TiE-Boston are overjoyed to be the winners. Suren Dutia, ex-CEO of TiE-Global said, “TyE aims to become world's leading entrepreneurial program for the youth and it will continue to evolve its curriculum that aligns with the current business environment."

The TyE –Boston program is recruiting the new batch scheduled to begin at a launch event on September 18th 2010. We look forward to your child joining TyE program.
