Meditation Courses For Young Women (ages 13 - 17) In Lexington

07/19/2010

Meditation courses for Young Women (ages 13 - 17) in Lexington , Sunday August 29th.

This one-day course for teenage girls (ages 13 – 17) offers young women an opportunity to learn to meditate. The course teaches teens to calm and concentrate their minds. To do this, they develop the awareness of natural breath using a technique called Anapana meditation. This is the first technique learned by someone who joins a full 10-day Vipassana course. Anapana meditation has been practiced for centuries in many Asian countries. It is a tried and true method of mental concentration. Trained and qualified teen’s course teachers provide guidance and clarification at regular intervals throughout the program. The recorded instructions and explanations are simple and concise. The sessions are challenging without being overwhelming. Between meditation sessions there are quiet times for reading, journaling, simple crafts, snacks and lunch. The program is designed so that at the end of the day all participants can feel that they ere successful and learned something worthwhile.

The benefits of Anapana meditation include:
  • improved concentration and memory
  • increased awareness and alertness
  • More self-confidence
  • More self-control
  • Greater capacity to work and study
  • Ability to empathize with others.

Anapana helps meditators better understand themselves and how their minds work. They gain mastery over their impulses, and develop the inner strength to choose right actions over wrong ones. This can help them lead a productive, happy life.

Students must themselves want to join the course, and they must have their parents’ consent.

There are no charges for courses, whether for food, other facilities or the teaching itself. All expenses are covered by voluntary donations from people who have completed a course, experienced the benefits and wish to give others the same opportunity.
The course will begin at 9AM and will continue until 4:30PM, in Lexington, MA. Advance registration is required. For more information on the registration process, and to download forms, please visit the web site listed at the end of this message.
