Alok De and Bijoy Misra 05/25/2010 The Annual Indian Poetry Reading hosted by the Outreach Committee of the Department of Sanskrit and Indian Studies at Harvard University was held on Sunday, May 9 at 3 PM in Hall A of the Harvard University Science Center. MY SOCIETY Societies are formed by hundreds of groups, Of individuals all with independent goals, But which society is truly ideal and unique, That I can call really
as my own. ? Professionals have their preferential ones, Engineers and doctors have institutions too.. Industries have all got forums of their own, Intellectuals have their
tav, beta, pai. Cultural forums promote their culture, Literary forums kindle the spirit, of poets. writers, artists and more, Workers have all their
unions too. Condominiums and communuties have associations all Entrepreneurs have their directors' board, Politicians have their parties galore, Publicservants have
associations
too. When tsunamis ,volcanoe, bomb blast strike, At instant notice causing infinite damage Thousands are dead and many more wounded, Wreckage is wrought of
enormous scale. Samaritans rush from alien lands, With love, care and compassion for all, To render all help to the suffering and needy, Irrespective of caste
,creed and their race. The dead are buried and the wounded are treated, Food, clothes and medicine rushed in plenty, Wrekage is cleared and services restored, Shelters are built to
house those homeless. Orphaned children are cared and adopted, Old and destitutes are admitted to home, Commonality being the unifying force, Unity in diversity
their ultimate goal. Willing people form welfare societies,, Joining their hands in friendship and love, That is the society I call as my own, With banner held high "HAPPINESS FOR ALL' (Feature sponsored by S4, Inc. ) ![]() You may also access this article through our web-site http://www.lokvani.com/ |
