New England Hindi Manch (NEHM) is a unique and vibrant organization in the New England area. This organization took shape in November 2009 as a forum to connect people who enjoy speaking and listening to Hindi or want to learn Hindi and enable them to participate in activities celebrating this great language. This organization is growing rapidly and has many dedicated and enthusiastic members.

The aim of this organization is to bring people who know Hindi or who want to know Hindi together, through cultural, social and educational programs and activities, and to propagate the Hindi language and culture in future generations.

In a recent meeting, Preetesh Shrivastava, President NEHM said “This organization is not related to any caste, religion, region or area. In NEHM, the word Hindi is equivalent to Hindi and similar languages and dialects like Urdu, Bhojpuri, Brij, Hindi that we speak in various states/countries etc. We welcome people from all religions, states, countries and languages to join our organization.”

Mohan Dali, Pradeep Shukla and Shubha Chungi and other Founding Committee members requested people from the New England area to join the organization and be part of this community.

Chaitanya Godsay, VP NEHM talked about various upcoming events of NEHM in 2010. “We have an impressive line-up of events. These include New England SaReGaMaPa, a full-length play in Hindi, Baal Manch (kid’s talent show) and Mahamoorkh Sammelan (comedy night). We hope all members of the New England community with varied interests will participate and attend these events and join our organization”, he said.

Anish Khanzode and Saujanya Pangrekar, SaReGaMaPa committee members gave an overview of the upcoming event New England SaReGaMaPa. New England SaReGaMaPa is a unique opportunity for music lovers in the New England area. This is a singing competition where participants will perform Bollywood numbers. While this is a singing competition based on Bollywood movie songs, the idea is not to create a tough competition between singers, but to get local music lovers together and to enjoy each other’s singing with our favorite movie songs.

Meena Sundaram, SaReGaMaPa committee member emphasized “We have 2 groups, one for younger participants (Ages 10-18) and one for participants over 18. We are hoping for enthusiastic participation in both groups and request people to spread the word to their friends and acquaintances. We urge all people interested in participating to go to our website www.hindimanch.org and register online as soon as possible as the auditions are starting very soon. Details about the contest and entry forms are all available at the website.”

The auditions will be held in 3 cities – Burlington area (April 24th), Cambridge/MIT (April 25th) and Framingham (May 9th). The finale is on June 26th at Babson College Wellesley. The audition fee is just $10 in which includes a free ticket to the finale event as well.
