IITSINE 2010 Annual Social

IITSINE, the IIT Alumni Association held its annual social gathering on Saturday, March 13,  in Burlington, MA. Despite heavy rains, nearly 125 come to attend the event.

Raj Laad, who serves on the IITSINE executive committee welcomed the audience and spoke about the mission of IITSINE. "In addition to hosting social and networking events, IITSINE also hosts talks by leading personalities" said Laad.

The cultural evening opened with Mamavathu Sri Saraswathi in Bharatanatyam style by Prerna Patil and Richa Singh (students of Ranjani Saigal). Manasi, Danke, student of Aarti Kaul presented a Chota Khayal in Rag Yaman.  Susruthi Rajanala, student of Ranjani Saigal then presented a Javali , Madhura Nagarillo.  Karna Krishna dazzled the audience with a  violin presentation where he presented the evergreen Vivaldi Concerto in A minor.  The Big Bhangara Boys of Westford presented a cute Bollywood Medley.  In a East Meet West number, Aisha Laad combined Jazz and Bollywood in a innovative manner. Monisha Rajnikanth and Sheetal Laad presented yet another Bollywood Medley.

Sanjay Chaudary did a  standup comic routine which was most entertaining. Smriti Gupta presented the famous Rabindranath Tagore poem Ekla Chalo.  The grand finale for the evening was a trip down memory lane with the musical couple Shirish and Gouri Nimgoankar . While Gouri presented a Carpenter number, Shirish dazzled the audience with his brilliant rendition of Laga Chunari Mein Daag. 

A delicious dinner followed by a fun game of Bingo kept everyone entertained.

"It is always a pleasure to attend these events" said Puran Dang who is the founder of this organization. Dang spoke about a special fund that is being established at IITKGP in honor of Prof Mishra to fund the education of students who many not be able to afford it.

The executive committee members Ravi Rastogi, Anil Saigal, Bala Balasubramanium, Raj Laad, Manju Aggarwal and Dilip Subramanyam should be congratulated on organizing a wonderful event.
