ATFS Vocabulary And Science Contests

Students from Corner Stone Academy, Sherwood Middle School and AMSA Marlboro make it to the Top

The 5th annual Vocabulary Contest conducted by ATFS Learning Center was held on January 23rd. Children of grades 2 through 8 participated enthusiastically to compete within their levels. Each one hour written test consisted of various sections including vocabulary challenges, alphabetical order, analogies, and sentence correction. ATFS conducts this test each year to foster the spirit of competition and learning in young children.

Students came from various schools including Corner Stone Academy, AMSA Marlboro, Floral Street School Shrewsbury, Fay School Southboro, Oak Middle School Shrewsbury, Sherwood middle School Shrewsbury, St Bernedette Northboro, and Al-Hamra Academy Shrewsbury.

The winners for each level are

Level 1
1st Place: Vasant Sundaresan (Corner Stone Academy)
2nd place: Prisha Singh (Floral Street School)
3rd Place: Katherine Regis (St. Bernadette)

Level 2
1st Place: Kristen Huie (Sherwood Middle School)
2nd Place tie: Akshay Alamuri (Sherwood Middle School)
3rd place: Ansh Jetly (Al-Hamra Academy)

Level 3
1st place: Mano Sunderesan (AMSA Marlboro)
2nd place: Sarath Mohan (Oak Middle School)
3rd place: Vipul Malik (Oak Middle School)

ATFS also conducted its 5th annual Science Foundation Contest on October 29th, 2009. The one hour written test consisted of multiple choice questions in each level. The results of the contest are as follows.

Level 1
1st Place: Prisha Singh (Floral Street School)
2nd place: Navya Nakka
3rd Place: sayf thannawalla (Al-Hamra academy)

Level 2
1st Place: ansh c.jetly (Al-Hamra Academy)
2nd Place: nisa burns (Sherwood Middle School)
3rd place: arya Mantena

Level 3
1st place: sarath mohan (Oak Middle School)
2nd place: Rohit suresh (Oak Middle School)
3rd place: vipul malik (Oak Middle School)

All 1st place winners will be receiving their trophies along with their winner certificates on June 5th during the annual prize distribution function while the second and 3rd place winners will receive their medals along with other achievement awards for the year.

ATFS Learning Center is an academic institute serving the Western Massachusetts area. We specialize in building an academic foundation in Math and Science for children of ages 5 – 17. We offer, after school academic time for those who need homework help. Saturday enrichment for the gifted and talented, private tutoring for those struggling with concepts and summer enrichment time for learning, enhancing, refining and supplementing the education of school children through an innovative, inspiring, stimulating and energetic framework. We conduct Science, Vocabulary and Math Contests each year on “best effort basis” to encourage and motivate children to achieve their full academic potential.
