""Filmen dekhar ye bache bigathe he ja rahe hain" - Watching films the children are really getting spoiled!  This is the same line that has been repeated for generations. Have generations since the black and white film days really been spoiled?" asks Rahul Solapurkar the anchor who brilliantly brought to life on stage the days of Black and White cinema. This was Kalavaibhav's presentation of "Black and White" which presented the work of the legendary artists of the Black and White Bollywood days.  The presentation was held at the Littleton auditorium on Sunday 13th September, 2009.

A truly original production created and directed by Milind Oka, the production a was a musical with an unusual touch where the stage seems to merge with the screen and historic timeline seemed shrink. Were those films really from a time far back?

Listening to music one could well see what that time was termed "Golden Era" for films a time when best of poetry and music came togther to bring to life a "simple time".  Tribute was paid to many of the legendary artists and film maker including K.L Saigal, Bimal Roy , V. Shantaram, Guru Dutt, Dev Anand, Dilip Kumar . Raj Kapoor, Meena Kumari , Madhubala, Kishor Kumar, Shammi Kapoor and others.

All time favorites like "Ajeeba Dastan hai yeh", "Aja Re Pardesi", "Awara Hoon", "Pan Kahiye Saiyya hamaro", "Hal Kaisa Hai Janab Ka" and many others were presented. The narrator gave  some tidbits about the artists and as the scene came alive on the screen, singers Hrishikesh Ranade, Vibhavari Joshi, Jitendra Abhyankar and Savani Ravindra of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa fame brought their beautiful voices to make a live presentation.

The classy sets, the costumes reflecting the times of the pieces all made the presentation breathtaking to say the least.  If this group visits again do not forget to see their presentation!
