The recent economic cataclysm changed the professional world forever. Today, job seekers should steer away from traditional techniques, and the employed should create a career development and networking plan both within and outside their organizations.
What is important today is networking over the years: building relationships that are two-way, developing collaborative partnerships, appreciating interactions, expressing sincere congratulations when others are promoted, and engaging in conversations spanning a variety of issues.
When many individuals are all well-qualified for a job, something "more" must stand out in the final candidate. This "more" may be related to job accomplishments, but likely, the "more" is related to relationships, perhaps the one who is best known, or the one who is most liked, or the one who has consistently good interactions with others.
Come meet three prominent leaders, Senator Karen Spilka, Judge Sabita Singh, and Eustacia Reidy speak about their experiences and career growth. We will learn about their journey, motivations, and the steps they took to reach their positions. Senator Karen Spilka practiced as an attorney before she was elected State Representative for her district, and now she serves as the Senate Chair of Economic Development and Emerging Technologies in Massachusetts. Judge Sabita Singh is an Indian-American lawyer and presides in the District Circuit Court in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Stacia Reidy is a Healthcare strategist who was at Massachusetts Biotechnology Council as COO and Chief of External Affairs before joining Vertex Pharmaceutical’s Government and Public Policy office.
