Election 2002

Whew! What a roller coaster ride that was!! Your Lokvani scribe sat up all night biting her nails and tearing out her hair watching the results unfold. Well, Mitt did beat out Shannon in Mass, and John Sununu in New Hampshire beat Jean Shaheen to capture the Junior senate seat in New Hampshire. While the Bushes rejoiced in Florida over the re-election of Jeb, Walter Mondale(D) went back into retirement after his brief comeback (all of a week long).

Coming back to Masachussetts, Romney cruised to victory with a 50% share over O'Brien's 45%. Green Party candidate Jill Stein got 3%, while Libertarian Carla Howell and the independent candidate Barbara Johnson got 1 % each. While the Republican Governors were replaced by Democrats in Illinois, Michigan and Pennsylvania , the GOP will keep its administrations in Florida, Texas and New York.

In other news, Republican Elizabeth Dole beat Democrat Erksine Bowles, and veteran Senator John.F. Kerry was reelected (did you even know that he was running).

Ballot Questions

1.On Question 1, voters decide against eliminating state tax.
2. Voters also rejected bilingual education at the Ballot, it'll be replaced by a one year English immersion program. Mitt carried the day on this one too.
3. Voters rejected the referendum that suggested they provide taxpayer money to campaigns.
