For the first time, the Boston Childrens Museum celebrated India's Republic Day on February 1st. Kumu Gupta, Advisory Board Asian American Commission Massachusetts and Vice Chair Mayor’s Human Rights Commission, gave the opening remarks and presented the museum with an Incredible India poster for its collections. Every one attending the event had an opportunity to have their name written in Hindi at The India Society of Worcester booth, which also provided basic facts about India and Indian culture.

The primary activities included Warli Painting Workshops by Sunanda Sahay, beautiful dances folk and classical dances by Anandam dance group of Quincy and interactive puppet shows, kids activities and patriotic songs by Khel Mel.

With more than 100 people in attendance, it was the start of a new era of cooperation between the Indian community and the Boston Childrens' Museum.

It was a delight to see a mainstream location celebrate a Indian holiday . We look forward to the celebration the next year!
