SAATh Presents Interrogations

John Mathew
//

Usha Reddy, by all accounts, is not happy. Neither is her daughter, Deepa. Attention is drawn to their non-attendance at the birthday party of Shanti Menon, one of Deepa's closest friends. As speculation mounts among those present, the dark truth that envelopes the lives of Usha and Deepa is revealed directly, with glimpses afforded into their every day, not least through the terrifying presence that is suffocating them.

The Harvard South Asian Association (SAA) and South Asian American Theatre (SAATh) present Jyoti Thottam's and S. Karthick Ramakrishnan's unsettling play "Interrogations,' a close look at an issue about which the South Asian community continues to stay silent, that of domestic violence.  Based upon a true story that occurred in Massachusetts a few years ago, the play seeks to speak to our consciences, and marshal our resolve to take on an evil that we can, and must confront.

Interrogations runs from November 7th (Thursday) to November 9th (Saturday) at the Old Library Theatre Space, Leverett House, Mill Street, Harvard University, Cambridge, MA 02138. All performances are at 7:30 pm( on Saturday the play will be staged at 7pm), with an additional performance on Saturday the 9th at 2:00 pm.

Tickets are available starting Thursday, October 24th at the Harvard Holyoke Box Office (617.496.2222).

The ticket prices are: $4 (Leverett House residents, children, senior citizens), $5 students, $6 adults.

the corner of De Wolfe and Mill Streets. Parking meters are to be found along the length of De Wolfe Street and on some adjoining streets. The
entrance area to the Old Library theatre is half way down the length of the building, on Mill Street.

Public Transport: Take the T (Red-line) or bus to Harvard Square. Emerging at the island next to Out of Town News, take an about turn, and walk down
Massachusetts Avenue (past Au Bon Pain), several blocks until you come to the Harvard Book Store at the corner of Massachusetts Avenue and
Plympton Street. Turn right onto Plympton Street and walk down virtually all of its length, crossing Bow Street and Mount Auburn Street, and turn
left onto Mill Street. The entrance to the Old Library will come to your right as you walk down Mill Street along the length of the building.
