Chinmaya Mission Boston, part of the world-wide Chinmaya Mission family, has been serving the Greater Boston community by fostering educational, spiritual, cultural, religious, and community service activities—the ‘Pancha Ratnas’ or ‘Five Jewels’. The Mission is expanding its current facility in Andover to serve the increasing needs of the community.
The new center will have individual class rooms for each Grade, allowing the Bala Vihar , Yuva Kendra students to learn the great scriptures of Hindu culture, study the Indian languages, and practice the Hindu values.
The Maruti Mandir will be expanded allowing devotees to enjoy the religious and cultural festivals of India—from the colorful festival of Holi to the festival of lamps, Diwali, with all of their Chinmaya friends and family
The 350-seat state of the art Deshpande Auditorium (thanks to the generous contributions of Dr. Deshpande), allowing for a beautiful view of the natural scenery, will be the focal point of adult classes or Sat Sang’s. Adults will be able to discuss the sacred scriptures, watch videos, attend Bhajans and Vedic Chanting to transform their inner self and practice the values enunciated in our Vedas and Upanishads.
The auditorium will also be used to foster the great cultural heritage of India by hosting music and dance performances of visiting Indian artists, as well as local artists and their students.
The domed meditation center with twelve windows letting the sunlight shine through the building will be the spiritual heart of the center. Guided meditation sessions to get you closer to the ‘Self’ within you or just peace and quiet, away from the stressful life, will be the major attraction of the meditation center.
