Dhananjayans: Bhakthi Maargam

Dhananjayans will be performing their “Bhakthi Maargam” on November 1st 2008 at 5:30PM in Littleton High School Auditorium.  Tickets are $100, $50 and $30 ($20 for seniors and students). This is their final tour of the US.  Dhananjayans have become synonymous with Bharatha Natyam through their dedicated service to this art form.  They have inspired the world of Bharatha Natyam by being exceptional performers, composers, choreographers, tireless teachers and brilliant ambassadors.  Their career lasting over five decades have made them legends in their own lifetime.

Shantha and V.P. Dhananjayan started their life as Bharatha Natyam artists in Kalakshetra under the direct tutelage of pioneer Smt Rukmini Devi – the founder of the celebrated school.  Later they started their dance academy Bharatha Kalanjai in 1969 where they have been training students and producing world-class productions.  Partners in life as well as the stage, they have performed all over the world and have won kudos from connoisseurs and the masses.

Manitha Neyam Trust – translated as Love for Humanity, will present them in New England.  This organization helps the orphans, elderly and disabled giving them food, shelter and education.  The funds raised through this performance will help many of the causes that this organization is involved in.  Please visit www.manithaneyam.org for more details.

Bhakthi Margam – A Path of Bhakthi or Devotion to God will comprise of several dances to suit the title of the performance.  The repertoire in this presentation has been selected to provide an experience of walking through devotional fervor.  Dhananjayans’ will be accompanied by their talented student Padmarani Rasiah and musicians Babu Parameswaran – Vocal, Nellai Kannan – Mridangam, Eashwar Ramakrishnan on violin. The New England audiences are in for a rare treat.
