Dear Reader Please pause a moment to think, contribute and support the people affected by the floods in Bihar in India and the people here in New Orleans. Natural calamities such as these are always hard on those that affect them the most and we can all do our bit by supporting them in any way we can. In another bit of interesting news now that women in power ( or aspiring as in Sarah Palin ) are everywhere in the media , India has its own share of luminaries. PepsiCo's Indra Nooyi made 3rd place on the Forbes 100 Most Powerful Women list, which came out last week. Germany's Angela Merkel made #1, followed by Sheila Bair of the Federal Depost Insurance Corporation. Others who performed nicely:

He received the prestigious Padma Vibhushan award in 2008, the Indian government’s second highest civilian award. Founder and chairman of Infosys, TIME magazine identified him as one of the ten global leaders who are helping shape the future of technology. Infosys is the first India-registered company to be listed on NASDAQ. He will speak at the Akshaya Patra Gala and Fundraiser on Sep. 21, 2008 at the Westin in Waltham, MA.
