In her opening performance at Swedenborg Chapel, Harvard University on June 15, 2008 as part of a 4-city tour of United States, Abhishruti Bezbaruah was superb. She was accompanied by Priti Chakravarty on Harmonium and Vishal Nagar on Tabla.

Abhishruti is an artist of the "Banaras Gharana" and is a disciple of Padma Bhushan Guru Pt. Rajan-Sajan Mishra. She has performed at numerous venues and events in India, where she has won many awards and the appreciation of many listeners. She has lent her voice to Padma Shri Muzzafar Ali's serial "Zabaan-E-Ishq" and to Padma Vibhushan Pt. Birju Maharaj's dance dramas. She was adjudged 1st in All India Radio Competition 2006 for Hindustani Classical Vocal and awarded "Young Artist Scholarship" from Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India.

Priti Chakravarty received her initial training in vocal music in Bhagalpur, Bihar and advanced training from Pandit Vinayakrao Patwardhan, a well-known exponent of the Gwalior Gharana. Mrs. Chakravarty has extensive experience in teaching music and curriculum development and is currently an instructor at LearnQuest Academy.

Vishal Nagar is known for his unique combination of sound production and command of rhythm. He has conducted workshops at numerous universities and performed at several music festivals including WOMAD, etc. His music can be heard in the award winning documentary “Dalai Lama – Renaissance.”

The evening began with Hindustani classical songs Balam Na Aaay and Swaran Ke Sadho in Raag Josh (Vilambit Khayal), Jay Jay Durge Mata – Sab Jagat Ki Dukh Harni in Raag Durga (Madhyalay Bandish), and Awan Nahi De Mohe Kanhai and Aaaj More Khar Aaye Mere Balma in Raag Malcosh. This was followed by a Ghazal – Salona Saas Chale. The evening concluded with a Bhajan – Sadho Aaysah He Guru Bhave.

Sam Seidel honored Abhishruti with a proclamation from the Cambridge City Council while Ilia Gonzalez of Swedenborg Chapel thanked the community for holding the event at the Chapel. Akshay Mathur, assisted by Srinath Gaddam, did a wonderful job in organizing the concert.
