The tale of Sathyvan and Savithri has remained an inspiration for centuries. This story is the inspiration for festivals such as Karwa Chauth and Savithri Nombu.
This dramatic tells the powerful story of Savithri who by her wit and wisdom is able to release her husband from the clutches of the God of Death.

Kavitha Vijayashekar is the recepient of the  2008 Institute of Community Research Grant which was awarded to her to study Bharatanatyam under the tutelage of Ranjani Saigal. Through a combination of lyrical songs, Jathis (pure dance movements),Swarams (musical notes) and engaging English narration, this piece will tell this ancient Indian tale. An abridged version of the piece was performed at the National Heritage Museum at Lexington, Ma and has received rave reviews.
