Finally for the long awaited Boston Telugus, Swara Brahma Mani Sarma with his troupe of 15 artistes, rocked the Boston Telugus on June 1st with four hours of non-stop music.  Singers Vijayalaxmi, Kausalya, Malavika, Murali, Hemchander, Mallikarjun and Reverse Gear Guruswamy won the hearts of 800 music lovers at Boston on June 1st during their 14-city tour of USA.

Surya Jayanthi, President of TAGB (Telugu Association of Greater Boston) made the opening remarks that this program was made possible due to the kind gesture of Swara Brahma Mani Sarma and support from local sponsors Prakash Reddy & Sailaja of Minerva Restaurants chain, Nannapaneni Mohan and Shama and also P.S.Reddy of Shafali Projects.

The program started with suklambaradharam prayer by Murali, followed by Maa Telugu thalliki by Malavika and Vijayalaxmi.  The program which started with a devotional tempo moved quickly into the block busters and occasionally into the melodious songs of Ghantasala.  Favorites like Nuvve maya chesavo gain, cheppave chirugali, ammaye sannaga ara navve navvaga, niluvave valu kanula dana were superb.  Mallikarjun danced to several tunes to the applause of the audience and made them jump out of their seats to dance in the corridors and walkways.

Reverse Gear Guruswamy tickled the young and the old alike, not only through his reverse gear songs, but also through harikathalu, folklore and even a Qawali  The Parody Singer also entertained the audience by reversing TV commercials and radio jingles.

The technical team and music artistes were introduced over thundering drums and swara brahma astonishingly blended those roaring sounds into melodious music and the song ghallu ghallu mani sirimuvvalle.

Cheers, vigils, claps, applause and dances by young and children, were the order of the day and the Boston Telugus never had four hours of non-stop fun and joy in a musical program.

On this occasion, the book  “Saswara Upanishath VedaManthra Darsanam “  written and composed by  great Violinist Sri Yanamandra Naga Yagna Sarma was awarded to Mani Sarma by his best friend Venkat Munjethi.  The contents of this book include: Prathi padartha sahitha , Rugvedha Maha Sourya Surya Namskaram, Namakam – Chamakam, Yjurvedha Thithariya Aruna Patham and other divine scriptures.  Padma Bhushana Mangalampalli Balamurali Krishna wrote the foreword.  Legend Sri YN Sarma dedicated this book to his third son, Swara Brahma Mani Sharma as his “heir for his Sangeetha Sadhana”.  TAGB President Surya Jayanthi narrated the dedicated words and Asweerachanam from his father.

On behalf of  TAGB, Prakash Reddy felicitated Swara Brahma with Silk Shawl, while Mohan Nannapaneni presented a memento which is a plaque with Boston skyline to the Music Maestro in appreciation of his outstanding performance and entertainment with his 15-member troupe.

The musical event was concluded with ‘Nenu Saitham’ sung by all singers followed by our National Anthem Janaganamana.

The youngest singer of all, Hemchander who turned 20, celebrated his birthday. Mani Sarma and his artistes made that evening unforgettable to the fans.  At the onset of moon light, the party moved outdoor.  Mani Sarma, Reverse Gear Guruswamy and other singers continued their non-stop entertainment under moonlight with  jokes, parody songs and Antakshari by the singers. As fans left reluctantly, Mani Sarma promised to return to Boston to perform at the next opportunity.
