ISW Launches Free Monthly Seminar Series At India Center

Press Release
07/11/2007

India Society of Worcester (ISW),  one of New England’s most vibrant Indian Association today announced the launch of a new monthly seminar series that will provide current, community focused information on topics vital to families in the Central Massachusetts area. Initially the ISW Seminar Series will organize panels and discussions in four major tracks consisting of Finance, Health, Society & Culture and Family related issues.

“My long standing relationship with the India Society of Worcester has allowed me to witness first hand the valuable cultural and charitable work that this organization does” said Lieutenant Governor Timothy Murray. “These new forums will build upon this tradition of success by providing individuals with an opportunity to live up to the highest ideals of citizenry, by becoming engaged in topics of utmost importance to the residents of Central Massachusetts region.”

Topics for the inaugural seminars in July and August will focus on two of the most compelling issues facing families today – Internet Security and Planning for College. On Friday, July 27th a panel of experts from the Education, Law Enforcement and IT fields will help attendees cut through the confusion and answer questions on Internet security and safety in a session titled “Protecting yourself & your children online”. On Friday, August 24th, a session titled “It is never too early to start Planning for College” will bring together a group of College admissions officers and counselors to address parent’s questions about the college admissions process and financial aid.

â€œISW has grown over the years to serve a 1000 plus community members by being responsive to its community’s needs,” said Karyn E. Polito, State Representative, 11th Worcester District.  “Faced with increasingly complex issues at work and at home, people feel the need for a forum where they can get in-depth answers to pressing issues. We believe the ISW Seminar Series will help fill this gap for ISW members and the larger Central Massachusetts community. We look forward to seeing local organizations and families take advantage of this resource.”

The ISW Seminar Series will be held at 7.30 pm on the fourth Friday of the month at the ISW India Center, located at 152 Main Street in Shrewsbury. Admission is free and open to all.  Detail information can be found on the ISW website at www.iswonline.org.
