IAFPE-NE To Host 24th National Convention In Cambridge

Press Release
11/14/2006

The National Convention of the Indian American Forum for Political Education (IAFPE) will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2006 at the Hyatt Regency, in Cambridge, MA. The theme of this year’s convention will be: “Becoming a Politically Effective Community.”

Out of this issue focused convention will emerge a new strategy leading to enhanced political effectiveness of the Indian American community through Forum programs. Informative and interactive programming will consist of workshops and lectures by speakers with significant insight, including Indian American young adults.

The IAFPE was established in 1982 as a national non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization and currently has twenty two State Chapters operating across the USA. A dynamic grassroots organization, IAFPE has helped educate the Indian American community about the importance of participating fully in the American democratic process and way of public life.

What distinguishes the IAFPE from other Indian American organizations is that it has always been non partisan and focused on local Indian American community interests as well as broader national concerns. The IAFPE has been known and respected across all political circles since 1982.

Congressman James McGovern, will be keynote speaker during lunch, and Congressman Barney Frank, and Alan Khazei, founder of City Year, will be the keynote speakers during the banquet. The program concludes with a delicious Indian dinner and entertainment.
