Pravasi Bharatiya Divas 2007 To Be Held In Delhi

Pravasi Bharatiya Divas
7 - 9 January 2007 : Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi

The Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs, for the first time in partnership with the Confederation of Indian Industry and supported by the Government of NCT of Delhi, is once again organising the 5th edition of the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas, scheduled for 7- 9 January 2007 at New Delhi.
The Pravasi Bharatiya Divas - the annual flagship event of the Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs, aims to connect more than 25 million overseas Indians and bring the expertise and knowledge of Indian Community abroad to India to contribute and integrate into India's growth process. The PBD 2007 will also provide an opportunity to all to network and develop a robust and rewarding relationship. The Pravasi Bharatiya Divas traditionally sees over 1500 overseas Indians participating in the event!

The Prime Minister of India, Dr Manmohan Singh will inaugurate the Pravasi Bhartiya Divas 2007 on the 7th and Dr A P J Abdul Kalam, the President of India has agreed to be the Chief Guest at the Valedictory Session and will confer the Pravasi Bhartiya Samman Awards.  On the second day, the 8th, Mrs Sonia Gandhi, UPA Chairperson will address the Special plenary session on "Developmental Challenges of the States : Partneship Opportunities". In addition, the PBD will be addressed by all key Ministers from the Government of India, once again giving the overseas Indians to have a platform to network and interact with the Policy makers of India. 

CII as the Institutional Partner has constituted an International Committee, chaired by Mr Sam Pitroda, Chairman, Knowledge Commission, to provide input and guidance on the content and structure of the programme.

The highlights of the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas 2007 include:

Ø       A three day Convention, featuring diverse themes with eminent speakers
Ø       Trade and Industry Exhibition
Ø       Business Networking
Ø       Cultural Evenings

The Pravasi Bharatiya Divas will be widely promoted all over the world through the print and electronic media partnerships with newspapers and channels and also through the numerous Indian associations. Road Shows will also be organised ensuring wide publicity to the event.
