After the smashing success of Dhoom, it was but natural that expectations would be high for Dhoom 2 – Back in Action. The track indicates that the expectation was probably set unreasonably high. Nevertheless the high-flying club numbers may help make this a popular track.

The track opens with an energetic number – Crazy Kiya Re by Sunidhi Chauhan.  Sunidhi who delivered an amazing performance with Dhoom Machale does a wonderful job with this song as well but the composition does not deliver a punch quite at the level of Dhoom Machale.   Great use of orchestration though and there is a beautiful Tabla interlude that adds a lovely touch. The next song is a remix  Crazy Remix, by Bunty Rajput.  Bunty has done a fine job and one suspects the orchestration will carry the track through.

The next track Touch Me is sung by the very talented K.K and the  “Kajara Re”  Alisha Chinoy . It is a decent track though I think the potential of the singers was not put to good use.  The tune does have a nice beat to it and the Guitar is wonderful as well. The next number  sung by Sonu Nigam also is not very special. It is on the lines of Dilbara from Dhoom but with the dialogues rendered by Bipasha Basu instead of Uday Chopra.

We then move to a Punjabi number with Dil Laga Na. With a wonderful vocal lineup that includes Sukhbir, Soham Chakrabarthy, Jolly Mukherjee, Mahalaxmi Iyer, and Suzanne , this track is very catchy.  After a few listens this track does begin to grow on you!

The final number Dhoom Again on the track has Vishal Dadlani of the music team of Vishal-Shekar rendering the vocals. There is a wonderful use of percussion and the orchestral arrangement is okay.  While it cannot quite compete with the number in Dhoom rendered by Sunidhi, it does pack a punch.

Perhaps the moral of the story is that it is not very easy to do a follow up to a fabulous track like Dhoom. Will any of the numbers on this track be chartbusters? We need to wait and see..
