Learn Quest Opens New Branch In Acton

Learn Quest Academy, the non profit organization and a learning center for music for many aspiring students of vocal and instrumental music of India has opened a new branch in Acton.  Founded by Pradeep Shukla about 12 years ago, the center has been imparting music lessons for many students while  organizing seminars, workshops and concerts in Hindustani and Carnatic music for the benefit of its students and interested public.Classes are held in Waltham on Saturdays and some weekday evenings. The academy includes among its faculty a team of accomplished and experienced teachers of Indian music in the New England area.

Last year, the Academy set up a board of directors  and one of its primary goals at Learn Quest have been scouting different locations to start a branch.  Classes were already been conducted at the Chinmaya Center in Andover.  With so many young Indian families living in Acton, Boxborough, Westford, Chelmsford  and Bedford area, Acton seemed like a good place to start. Durga Krishnan has been  one of the original staff members who has been teaching there for the past 12 years and so Krishnan did some leg work and decided on the Church of the Good Shepherd to be a good location.” My goal now along with teaching is to develop a good Carnatic Music program.  Surya Sundarajan who plays the violin was introduced to me by Dr. Mathur when I needed a violin player for my "Mudakaratha" project for the website bajapriya.com, So I requested him to teach at Learn Quest.  The open house was a great success and many kids signed up for lessons.

Learn Quest  will be offering Carnatic Vocal taught by Aparna Balaji, Hindustani vocal taught by Pradeep Shukla and Sagarika, and Carnatic Violin taught by Surya Sundarajan for now at the Acton location. It  hopes to start offering tabla and mridangam classes in the near future also.
