SECOND ANNUAL 5K WALK/RUN FOR VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN SUNDAY, OCTOBER 1, 2006 - 9 am onwards.

In celebration of Domestic Violence awareness month in October and Mahatma Gandhi's birthday celebrations, Saheli, Friendship for South Asian Women has organized a 5K Run/Walk. Please join  with your family, friends, parents, and neighbors, and support the end of violence against women.

Funds raised will be used to support South Asian women and their children on an emergency basis through the domestic violence fund. This year  16 women so far were assisted with these funds.

The walk starts at 7 New England Executive Park , Burlington , MA 01803 Registration begins at 9:00am. Please fill out the attached form, get pledges from your family and friends and submit on the day of the event.

Registration is $10, seniors and children are free.

Saheli-Men's Initiative: Speaking Out to Stop Violence against Women seeks to increase awareness of gender violence. Violence against women is not just a women’s issue but requires the active and concerned support of men speaking out against domestic violence.

DIRECTIONS: From Points North:Take Interstate 128/95 South to Exit 33B. Go straight through the lights at the end of the exit ramp, this is Mall Road . Turn left at the 5th light into New England Executive Park .

From Points South: Take Interstate 128/95 North to Exit 32B, Middlesex Turnpike. Turn right at the end of the ramp onto Middlesex Turnpike. Go past the Burlington Mall and turn right at the 3rd light onto Mall Road .

Turn right into the New England Executive Park at the 3rd light on Mall Road .

By MBTA: The #350 bus from Alewife train station in Cambridge has a stop at New England Executive Park . 7 New England Executive park is all the way at the end of the road, the building is right in middle of the park.
