Bollywood star and former Miss Universe Sushmita Sen will co-star with Gere in a new movie titled ‘The Expat’." I have already signed (up for) the film. And yes, Richard Gere plays the male lead," Sen told the Times of India newspaper in an interview published Thursday. The film, to be shot in Argentina, is a Miramax production and will be directed by U.S.-based Sutapa Ghosh, she said. "I am looking forward to working with Sutapa and Richard," said Sen, adding that she'll play the title role of a foreigner living abroad.

The ever polite Amisha Patel, as we all know her, was seen doing a complete volte-face at the Mumbai airport. A police complaint has been filed by the Air India staffer who claimed that Amisha had threatened her. It all happened when Amisha Patel and her friend Sejal Shah who wanted a frequent flier upgrade. Amisha was upgraded, but as her girlfriend was not a frequent flier, the airline officials said they cannot do anything about it.  At this Amisha reportedly said .. “Keep your mouth shut or I’ll give your a tight slap.” Patel then starting spewing abuse and said she would teach Singh (the official) a lesson. “I’ll tell Praful Patel about this and see that you lose your job,” she allegedly said.  The two women were allegedly so foul-mouthed that other passengers were provoked into summoning the security guards of the CISF. Amisha Patel who was contacted in Paris by a reputed Indian newspaper was shocked. “They are only trying to safeguard themselves by filing such a false complaint against us. We kept on telling the ground staff about a drunken fat man who was misbehaving with us but they did not pay any heed to our complaint.  Even the lady at the counter was rude to us.” Maybe we have to wait for her story to know more about the “The Drunken Fat Man”.

Bollywood leading man Shah Rukh Khan says he felt uncomfortable taking on the role of a husband who leaves his wife and child for another woman in his latest film.  Khan usually plays the reliable son or the devoted father and said it was difficult to play a man who turned away from his family in 'Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna,' which hit theaters last week.   He told Cine Blitz magazine that infidelity wasn't what "a good man'' would do.  "I was embarrassed doing some scenes of this film, I felt shy doing them ... I am not a prude but I felt odd,'' said Khan, who has been married for 14 years and has two children.

Now that Ram Gopal Varma and Shashilal Nair are fast groping through the sensitive issue of a much older man falling in love with a very young girl, filmmakers have suddenly woken up to the possibilities of doing generation-challenged romances on screen. Nothing sleazy about it. And if we've Mr Bachchan doing a Lolita without trepidation why not the ladies? Producer Keshu Ramsay who executed all those slick Khiladi movies in the 1980s for his favourite actor Akshay Kumar is on to a new ball game.  He will soon produce a film that will cast his son Aryaman (seen recently in Ramsay's Family) as a young man desperately and passionately in love with a much older woman. Confirming this information, Ramsay says, "Yes, I'm making such a film with my son. The hunt is on for a suitable actress and a director." Ramsay has already sounded out a stunning actress who hasn't been seen on screen much lately. The hunt is on for a "suitably sensitive" director.

Independence Day eve brought shock to Bipasha Basu who was in New Jersey, where she was invited as a chief guest at India Day parade to mark the I-Day celebrations. The India Day parade was held at Edison Township, approximately ten thousand people had gathered to view the parade in the hope of catching a glimpse of Bipasha.  Unfortunately when the parade began the actress had still not arrived, but the organizers claimed that she would soon be joining them. Midway when the parade was taking place, the actress arrived on stage and asked the people if she could speak. Bipasha said “I wanted to attend the parade but I could not.” She claimed that the reason she could not be at the parade was because she was mentally and physically abused by some of the organizers en route in a Limo.  Bips said “ I was not molested. But I was upset with the bad arrangement and the misbehaviour of the organisers. I come from a profession which deserves respect and I demand respect too” While Bipasha has not yet lodged any formal complaint, the Association is already accusing her of breach of contract — by arriving late for the function.

The two handsome stars will be seen shoulder to shoulder in another romantic movie this Diwali. After the success of Mujhse Shaadi Karogi , the funky jodi is back again. Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar get together once again to make the audiences laugh. The duo will soon be seen in Shirish Kunder’s directorial debut, Jaaneman . The film is a musical romantic comedy starring Preity Zinta as the love interest of the two heroes.

While Chiranjeevi stepped into his 52nd year (August 22), it was an eventful day for the media too. Newspapers and tv channels were seen waiting to get sound bytes from the megastar. Clad in silk kurta and dhoti, a traditional attire Chiranjeevi accepted the flowers and warm wishes of everyone who gathered at his home. The entire street leading to his house wore a colorful and busy look. His house was filled up with roses and resembled a flower garden.
