04/20/2006

Sri Lakshmi Temple administration and NEHTI Committees on Youth Cultural & Educational Programs and Devotee Liaison proudly present a cultural program to raise funds for Sri Lakshmi Temple. The event will be held at the Natick High School Auditorium on Sunday May 7 2006 at 4:00pm.

Smt. Jayashree Bala Rajamani, Smt.  Neena Gulati, Smt. Sunanda Narayanan, Smt. Jeyanthi Ghatraju, Smt. Soumya Ramanathan, Smt. Poornima Risbud, Smt. Ranjani Saigal, Smt. Mari Shakthi Muthuswamy, Smt. Meena Subramanyam, Smt. Poornima Surya, Smt. Janani Swamy, and Smt. Sridevi Thirumalai have come together to create this one of a kind presentation.  Each one is an accomplished dancer with an impressive resume.

“This program will be a treat for the audience. Art and culture is very central to the temple’s activities. I am so pleased that the dancers and dance teachers have agreed to help the temple by donating their time to this worthy cause” says K.G Narayana, who is the President of the temple. “The local restaurants have also kindly agreed to provide free dinner to all the attendees”

Narayana proposed the theme for the presentation as a token of his respect for the “Lakshmi Mata” who is the presiding deity of the temple.  “Mother always gives everything to her devotees before we ask and we are always grateful to her kindness and would like to thank her” says Geetha Ranga who is the Chairperson of the Youth Cultural & Educational Programs committee of the temple.

The dancers consider participating in this event as a special honor. “We do have a lot of commitments. We have dance schools to run, children and families to care for and commitments at the work place. Yet the thrill of dancing to support a temple dedicated to “Mother Lakshmi” without whose blessings we could not do anything is worth every bit of time we put into the event. Also the joy of dancing with fellow Boston area dancers is wonderful” was the unanimous opinion of all the participants.

The proceeds from this fundraising will be directed towards building the infrastructure for programs and activities that reach out to the younger generations of the community, and enhance their participation in Temple activities. “We have devotees who come from a variety of backgrounds. The temple is working on providing services to cater to the needs of the diverse devotee population.  We are increasing the number participatory functions significantly to provide opportunity for devotee participation. Most importantly we are trying to reach out to the Youth who need to take the temple forward in the future” said Narayana.
