The Quincy Asian Resource held its Lunar Moon Festival at the North Quincy High School on Sunday Feb19, 2005.  This year’s festival had a record attendance of over 4000 people.

Quincy Asian Resources, Inc. is an Asian-led, Asian-staffed nonprofit agency that serves the social, economic, and civic needs of Asian Americans in Quincy, MA. Quincy Asian Resources, Inc(QARI). is an organization that was developed in November 2001 with an aim to bridge the gap in language and cultural barriers for members of the Asian community. In addition to providing resources for the members of the Asian community in Quincy, the organization has developed several programs to educate people about Asian culture.

The Lunar Moon Festival was a gala event featuring music and dance from China, India, Japan, Philippines, Vietnam, Korea and other Asian countries. Entertainment included a traditional Lion Dance, Dragon dance, Gong Fu demonstration, Japanese Bass Drum and Indian classical and folk dance. Many vendor booths advertised their wares and passed out information to people at the festival

The event was very educational even for the Asians who attended. “It is wonderful to see dance and costumes from other parts of Asia. We know our country and culture well but we are not very familiar with other parts of the Asian culture” said one of the attendees.  There were many events for children including arts and crafts table where they could make Asian artifacts.

QARI organizes an outdoors August Moon festival as well which also is a grand gala event. For more information, please check out their website at
