“Love means friendship sincerity and trust” say Brookline’s Mr and Mrs Khurana who have been married for over forty years. They won the award for the longest lasting relationship during the United India Valentine day celebration held on February 12, 2006 at the Needham country club.

“Valentine day party was a new concept for United India. Every celebration we have has always included the whole family. We worked hard to structure this event also to be fun for everyone” says Shobha Khetrapal, President of United India Association.

The event was the brainchild of Jeet & Shalini Shahani who decided to and try out something new.  “United India always has supported members who come up with new ideas. We were pleased to be able to do this event” says Khetrapal .

The Valentine theme was very visible in the party. Women were welcomed with beautiful pink and red roses. Children were given special cards and lollipop. The decoration committee had put balloons and beautiful table decorations to create the right ambience.

There were games and competitions for the young and the not so young. Amit Dutta won the best dressed male prize while Bhavani Tyago won the prize for the best dressed female. Tara Kapoor and Parv Mittal won the kids competitions.

One of the highlights of the evening was the presentation of the community service award to Dolly Raja who has tirelessly served the organization for many years.  The evening ended with everyone dancing the night away to the tunes of DJ Vijay.

“Everyone worked so hard to make this event a success. Pravin Khetrapal was able to successfully advertise the event and bring over 120 people to the event despite storm threats.
We were able to keep the cost to $20/head, which was very reasonable. We had a lovely spread catered by Rasoi” said Khetrapal.

“The success of the event has made us think about making this an annual event” says Khetrapal.
