Sakhi For South Asian Women 2006 Spring Internships

Ajay Ghosh
12/12/2005

Sakhi for South Asian Women is currently accepting applications for our spring internship positions. Sakhi offers semester-based and yearly internships in each of its four program areas, depending on need and capacity. Interns typically work on a specific project within the program, in addition to assisting with the program area's scope. Interns have helped Sakhi with a variety of programs, including survivor intervention, literacy classes, health workshops, community outreach, and fundraising. Because of our limited budget, we are unable to offer compensation. However, Sakhi ensures that an internship with us will be enriching and productive. Sakhi is willing to offer school credit if such a possibility exists.

All internships with Sakhi require 15 hours of work per week, including some evening and weekend hours. Internships will last a minimum of 3 months time.  In 2006, fall internships will begin in early to mid-January (or earlier) and last through mid-May or later.

In order to apply, please submit a resume and a cover letter to contactus@sakhi.org.  In your cover letter, please be sure to include the following: Which specific internship you are applying for and why you are interested in this program area.  Internships are currently available in the following areas: Domestic Violence Program (Bangla/Bengali speakers wanted!); Economic Empowerment Program;  Community Outreach & Media Program; and  Development Program .
