TiE Boston and BU Present the 2nd Annual Outsourcing Workshop
November 12, 2005 at Boston University

Opening Keynote: S.D. Shibulal, Co-founder and Director of Infosys

Last year over 130 professionals attended several practitioner led sessions at the first TIE Outsourcing Workshop. Following up on this success TiE Boston will be holding its second Outsourcing Workshop at the Graduate Management School, Boston University on Saturday November 12, from 1.00 to 6.30 p.m. This year's TiE Outsourcing Workshop explores a wide spectrum of outsourcing activities that impact the American economy.

From Manufacturing to High Tech, R&D to Bio Tech, no sector has been able to resist the Outsourcing winds of change.  In a survey of large companies, 73 percent considered offshoring an important part of their overall growth strategy while 71 percent cited access to qualified personnel as a major driver when considering offshoring. Faced with the stark reality of global competition and ever increasing pressure on costs, companies are wrestling with a multiplicity of outsourcing choices.

The TIE Boston Outsourcing Workshop provides local enterprises with an
opportunity to learn from people who are actively involved in shaping and
managing offshore outsourcing initiatives, programs and projects. For
companies just considering outsourcing or those who have already begun
implementing an outsourcing strategy, this workshop provides practical first
hand takeaways from leading practitioners in the field.

This year TIE Boston is honored to have S.D. Shibulal, co-founder, director
and Head Worldwide Customer Sales & Delivery at Infosys, as our keynote
speaker. Mr. Shibulal is currently responsible for the performance of practice units in Infosys in terms of value delivered to customers, business performance, and organizational efficiency. This is complemented by his other responsibilities in fostering innovation, leadership, teamwork and work values within the organization.

"There is clear evidence today that offshore outsourcing has delivered undisputed benefits across many sectors of industry. Some fundamental cross industry lessons now seem to be emerging out of a decade of rapid growth. This is an ideal opportunity to start sharing our experiences of these lessons to an audience looking to shape the next chapters of the Offshore Outsourcing journey," said S.D. Shibulal.

Paul Dupuis, Senior Director, Information Technology, Vertex Pharmaceuticals will provide a Bio Tech perspective on information technology as the second keynoter. In addition, attendees will have a chance of selecting one of five moderated sessions:

*    Bio/Pharma Outsourcing: highlights how global competition and narrowing margins are forcing Bio/Pharma companies to look to outsourced alternatives for research and development.
*    Clinical Trials Outsourcing: will allow companies to understand the drivers and success criteria for outsourcing this key function.
*    Manufacturing Outsourcing: will help uncover the latest trends in outsourced manufacturing and design services in an increasingly commoditized
manufacturing world.
*    Software Outsourcing: will let attendees learn how companies have
outsourced core product and IT applications.
*    Knowledge Process Outsourcing: beyond call centers, find out how companies provide value added outsourced services targeted at core business
processes

The TiE Outsourcing Workshop is jointly produced by the TiE SSBF (Software and Services Business Forum), TiE Life Sciences SIG, the MIT Emerging Market Ventures Club, Boston University Entrepreneurs Club, Boston University Entrepreneurial Management Institute and NECINA (New England Chinese Information & Network Association).

Registration is $30 for TiE members, $45 for non-members and only $20/$15
for students. Space is limited, so early registration is advised to avoid a
late registration fee.  For complete agenda, list of all panelists and to register; go to www.tie-boston.org.
