Free Health Stop Facility

Sahdev Passey
10/24/2005

The Indian Medical Association of New England, along with the India Society of Worcester, proudly announces the opening of Free Health Stop.  It will be located at the India Center, 152 West Main Street, Shrewsbury MA.  This program will provide the needed health care for the under served and uninsured in our community. It will serve everyone and is not limited to the Indian Community.

We opened our doors on Wednesday, October 12, 2005 and it will be open every Wednesday of the month from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Every week we plan to provide acute care for non emergency medical problems, information on health issues and different issues related to diet. We also plan to have consultations with medical sub specialists, bone marrow density and issues related to dental care available once a month.

There will be no charge for the services provided at the facility. Anyone who wishes to take advantage of our services is welcome irrespective of their financial, immigration and insurance status. We will try our best to make arrangements for people by referring to outside facilities for continual long-term care for chronic medical conditions.

This program is made possible with the support of our volunteer physicians; social workers, dieticians and members of the India Society of Worcester who will help us staff the facility.  We are looking for Physicians, Social workers, Dieticians, Mental Health Workers and any other medically related service providers to join us in this venture. We will not dispense any narcotics at this facility and our facility will be closed on days when the Worcester Public Schools are closed because of a snow day.
